Aim

To provide an easy way to constantly monitor the axle box bearings, which are one of the most important components of rail vehicles, contributes to the reliability and safety of the railway network.

Solution

To simplify the monitoring procedure Thermax 8 Level Indicators are attached to the axle box to enable maintenance engineers to carry out regular temperature checks by looking for their simple color change. If high temperatures are recorded then this provides a warning that the bearings inside the axle box have possibly burnt out and as such the truck in question is segregated for inspection.
