Blood Bag Temperature Indicator

The SpotSee Blood Bag Temperature Indicator® provides blood banks and transfusion centers with the knowledge that blood has been kept at the correct temperature.

Easy to use, blood bankers simply apply the indicator label on the blood bag and apply freeze spray for activation.

When the blood bag hits 10°C, the blood can no longer be used. SpotSee’s Blood Bag Indicator saves time, money, and blood by warning those distributing blood of temperature breach. Overall, this protects the patient’s safety.

Activating the temperature indicator is an easy process. Blood bankers simply remove the indicator from the liner, adhere it to the blood bag and apply freeze spray. Once freeze spray is applied, the color will change from clear to dark blue. If the bag changes from dark blue to medium blue, that signals the bag has reached 6°C and is increasing in temperature. This color change warns distributors that they need to use the blood immediately or return to refrigerator. Finally, if the color changes to clear, the temperature of the blood bag has exceeded to 10°C and can no longer be used.
