Shipping medications from the pharmacy directly to patients at homes is standard practice today for the local drugstore as well as large regional and national chains. Maintaining proper temperatures during shipment, therefore, is a concern. That’s because fluctuations in temperature can shorten the useable life of some medications and make some others less effective or, sometimes, dangerous.

Thermax® Labels used on Race Brake Calipers

While the car is racing and trying to reach maximum pace, the brakes are often applied hard. The friction of the pads against the rotating discs then transfers heat to the calipers. If the temperature reaches 250°C, the brake fluid may lose its non-compression status causing brake fade. If this occurs, the brake fluid should be replaced at the next pit stip. The caliper is an ideal place for the Thermax® Label, as it provides a clear view of the brake fluid temperature.

Thermax® Labels used on Engine Cam Covers – Race Prepared Engines

While working at maximum performance, the top half of the engine must be kept within safe working limits to prevent damage. Water moves around the engine to cool the components. However, this can cause boiling temperatures. When the car is at the pit-stop, Thermax® Labels can be used to record the water temperature while in motion, giving a quick reference for the mechanics. These labels can also be used on radiator and cylinder heads.

Thermax® labels used on Shock Absorbers – Competition Shock Absorbers on Rear Axle

Modified exhaust pipes, especially on turbo-charged cars, produce much hotter air that can possibly overheat the nearest shock absorber. This can affect the vehicles handling and reduce up to one quarter of the car’s suspension stability. Placing Thermax Labels on the lower casing will give a clear indication if this is happening during a race.

Validated thermal packaging is the first line of cold chain defence, but how do you know your packaging works every time and in all seasons? Unless you monitor product temperatures inside those packages, you don’t.

Adding a WarmMark temperature indicator to each pharmaceutical shipment is a small price to pay to avoid the much greater costs of failure.
