Thermax Labels: Motorsport Applications
Thermax® Labels used on Race Brake Calipers
While the car is racing and trying to reach maximum pace, the brakes are often applied hard. The friction of the pads against the rotating discs then transfers heat to the calipers.
If the temperature reaches 250°C, the brake fluid may lose its non-compression status causing brake fade. If this occurs, the brake fluid should be replaced at the next pit stip.
The caliper is an ideal place for the Thermax® Label, as it provides a clear view of the brake fluid temperature.
Thermax® Labels used on Engine Cam Covers – Race Prepared Engines
While working at maximum performance, the top half of the engine must be kept within safe working limits to prevent damage. Water moves around the engine to cool the components. However, this can cause boiling temperatures.
When the car is at the pit-stop, Thermax® Labels can be used to record the water temperature while in motion, giving a quick reference for the mechanics. These labels can also be used on radiator and cylinder heads.
Thermax® labels used on Shock Absorbers – Competition Shock Absorbers on Rear Axle
Modified exhaust pipes, especially on turbo-charged cars, produce much hotter air that can possibly overheat the nearest shock absorber.
This can affect the vehicles handling and reduce up to one quarter of the car’s suspension stability. Placing Thermax Labels on the lower casing will give a clear indication if this is happening during a race.
Other Case Studies

Dialysis Case Study: WarmMark®
WarmMark thermal indicators are as easy to use as they are to read. The dialysis center simply adds the WarmMark temperature card to the box containing the blood samples and ships it as usual. When the package arrives, lab technicians have visual confirmation showing whether the samples exceeded safe thermal thresholds and, if so, for how long. Then they know what steps to take to protect the integrity of the results. read more
Thermax® Encapsulated Indicators
SpotSee’s Thermax® Encapsulated Indicators show medical personnel at a glance whether temperatures within the packaging exceeded safe temperature thresholds. With this go/no go clarity, medical professionals know whether the suture can go into inventory or should be discarded. read more

Medical Devices Case Study: ShockWatch RFID
Impact indicators have long been used to monitor medical equipment in transit. However, an RFID enabled impact indicator is just as valuable after medical devices are in service. The RFID will alert teams to possible damage due to impact as well as track equipment in use, lowering the loss of due to misplaced or stolen devices. read more

Freeze Indicator Case Study
Freezing isn’t good for many pharmaceutical products, so pharmacies, caregivers and, increasingly, patients, need a way to know whether their products froze in transit. SpotSee’s new freeze indicator provides that information. read more
