Drug Test Temperature Strips

Drug Test Temperature Strips are single-use, self-adhesive temperature indicators that provide immediate visual verification of urine specimen temperature at the time of collection. Using liquid crystal technology, the strips display an easy-to-read temperature range directly on the specimen cup, helping verify sample authenticity and integrity. Designed for workplace, clinical, and laboratory drug testing, they support compliance, improve collection accuracy, and help detect substituted or adulterated specimens.

FreezeSafe QR

FreezeSafe QR is a single-use, battery-free temperature indicator that provides irreversible visual evidence when products have been exposed to temperatures below a critical threshold. With a quick scan of the QR code using a smartphone, users can capture time, location, and condition data directly into the SpotSee Cloud—no app required. Built for cold chain monitoring, FreezeSafe QR helps protect temperature-sensitive products, improve compliance, and reduce costly losses.

Thermax

Thermax products are irreversible temperature indicators designed to provide clear, permanent evidence that a surface or product has reached a specific temperature threshold. Available in a range of formats and temperature points, Thermax delivers simple visual confirmation. Trusted across industrial, manufacturing, energy, and process applications, Thermax helps improve quality control, support maintenance decisions, and provide confidence in temperature exposure events.

Masterbatch and Leuco Dyes

Masterbatch and Leuco Dye combines advanced thermochromic pigments and color-forming compounds to create reliable temperature indicators that change color at predetermined temperatures. Designed for seamless integration into plastic products, labels, and packaging, these technologies provide clear visual temperature indication, support product quality and process verification, and deliver dependable performance across a wide range of industrial, medical, and consumer applications.

Liquid Crystal Technology

Liquid crystal technology uses temperature-sensitive cholesteric liquid crystals that selectively reflect different wavelengths of light as temperature changes. This produces precise, reversible color transitions that provide immediate visual indication of surface temperature. Ideal for medical, industrial, and diagnostic applications, liquid crystal technology delivers highly accurate temperature visualization with exceptional sensitivity and repeatable performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Thermax used for?

Thermax temperature indicators are used to monitor and permanently record if a surface or product has reached a specific temperature. They are commonly used for:

  • Process validation
  • Proof of curing, drying, or bonding
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Monitoring equipment overheating
  • Warranty and quality control verification
  • Manufacturing and industrial temperature monitoring

Thermax provides a simple and cost-effective way to verify that the correct temperature has been reached during a process. The indicators react in seconds once the specified temperature is reached, providing an immediate and permanent visual record for accurate monitoring and inspection.

What is Freezesafe QR used for?

FreezeSafe QR temperature indicators are used to monitor and record whether a shipment or product has been exposed to unacceptably cold temperatures. They are commonly used for:

  • Cold chain shipment monitoring
  • Pharmaceutical and life science temperature compliance
  • Package-level and item-level freeze detection
  • Last-mile cold chain visibility
  • Regulatory compliance and documentation (21 CFR Part 11)
  • Warranty and quality control verification

FreezeSafe QR provides a simple, cost-effective way to verify that a shipment has not been exposed to freezing temperatures. The indicator responds to cumulative cold exposure over time and provides an immediate visual result, while QR scanning delivers automated cloud-based records without requiring a dedicated app.

What is BriteDot used for?

Brite Dot is used to verify the temperature of urine specimens at the point of collection, ensuring sample authenticity and integrity. It is commonly used for:

  • High-volume drug testing laboratories and collection sites
  • Automated specimen processing workflows
  • Workplace and employment urine drug screening programs
  • Clinics, hospitals, and collection facilities requiring roll-stock label formats

Brite Dot fills the need for a fast, accurate, and cost-effective temperature verification solution in facilities that process large numbers of specimens and require automated label application.

How do Liquid Crystals change color?

As temperature increases, TLCs transition through a visible spectrum of colors. Starting from black (below the active range), the color shifts to Red, then Green, then Blue, and finally back to Black again as the temperature exceeds the active range. This change is fully reversible — the color sequence repeats each time the temperature moves through the active range.

What is the difference between Leuco Dyes and Liquid Crystal?

Both are thermochromic technologies, but they differ in key ways:

  • Leuco Dyes transition between one color and clear, are easier to incorporate into standard manufacturing processes, less temperature-precise, and more common in packaging, toys, and labels.
  • Liquid Crystals transition through a spectrum of visible colors (e.g., Black » Red » Green » Blue), are highly temperature-precise, require more specialized manufacturing, and are more common in precision gauges and thermometers.

What is Britevent used for?

Britevent is used to verify the temperature of urine specimens at the time of collection to confirm sample integrity and authenticity. It is commonly used for:

  • Drug testing and specimen validity verification
  • Workplace and employment urine screening
  • Clinical and hospital specimen collection
  • Doctors’ offices and urgent care facilities
  • Compliance with SAMHSA drug testing guidelines

A fresh urine specimen should fall within the normal body temperature range. Britevent provides an immediate visual confirmation of specimen temperature, helping clinicians and collectors detect samples that may be substituted, adulterated, or outside the acceptable temperature window.

What is Thermax?

Thermax is a self-adhesive label made with several temperature-sensitive elements sealed between heat-resistant layers with clear windows. Each element changes color when its specific temperature is reached. The color change is permanent, allowing the label to show the temperature history of the surface being monitored. Thermax labels are commonly used in industrial equipment monitoring, rail transportation safety, cold chain logistics, and healthcare applications where accurate temperature exposure tracking is critical.

What are Liquid Crystals?

Liquid crystals are chemical compounds and mixtures that exhibit the mechanical properties of liquids and the optical characteristics of solids. A specific class — Thermochromic Liquid Crystals (TLCs), also known scientifically as Cholesteric Liquid Crystals — changes color in response to temperature changes. Microencapsulation is the process that protects, stabilizes, and makes the liquid crystal easier to use in a wide range of applications.
